The mission of the Hammondsport Fire Department is to protect and serve the citizens and countless visitors who live and recreate in the Town of Urbana and Village of Hammondsport. We cover 44 sq miles of land and water out of 2 station with 9 pieces of fire apparatus.
We run with:
2021 Pierce Pierce Arrow XT Ladder
2001 Saulsbury Gladiator Engine
1997 Saulsbury Rescue
2009 Freightliner 4 Guys Pumper/Tanker
2008 Chevy Silverado 3500 HD Utility
2013 Chevy Suburban
2023 Bobcat UV34XL
2009 Harbor Guard Marine
2014 Inflatable watercraft
We have a committed group of members at the service of our community. We meet twice a week for drills (Sunday am) and work nights (Wednesday pm). We are blessed to have a 5 member Board of Fire Commissioners who serve the district with integrity, fiscal responsiveness and who take pride in the department they serve. We also enjoy the many visiting firefighters who stop at the station for a visit. We have had them stop in from Germany, England, Canada and virtually every state of the union. We also pride ourselves in the fact that our local citizens stop in and support us in our many fund raisers. Our station doors our always wide open. A Fire Chief could not ask for a better group of volunteers who put their differences and egos aside when they enter the fire station doors.
